Lunch with Andy Sykes Elder Law Attorney January 31 at Noon The Gathering Room Coffee Shop Paris Presbyterian Church 127 Steubenville Pike Paris (Burgettstown), PA Enjoy a delicious lunch arranged by James W. Zalenka, CFP. Andy Sykes will be sharing information on Elder Law with us. He will do a presentation and hold a question and answer time. This is a great opportunity to get some helpful information and insight. Andy has spent the last 26 years helping “the little guy” in his practice of law. He takes pride in having: obtained Medicaid benefits for people who didn’t think they could qualify; fought benefit denials in hearings and appeals; won higher incomes for the spouses of Medicaid applicants; designed successful asset protection plans for individuals and couples; represented executives in age discrimination cases; helped veterans and their families secure aid and attendance benefits to pay for care; obtained guardianship for the incapacitated, in both contested and uncontested cases; won court approval for asset protection planning for those under guardianship; and negotiated favorable settlements for families sued by nursing homes; prepared trusts to help the disabled. Although he has practiced primarily elder law for more than 16 years, his background as a trial lawyer, legislative aide, and clerk for a federal judge give Mr. Sykes a powerful skill set to help families face their legal challenges. This event is open to all. For more details please go to www.pariseco.net or www.facebook.com/ParisPresbyterianChurch. Andrew Sykes Bio Andrew Sykes’ peers in the legal and financial professions have recognized him as a leader in elder law. As a result Mr. Sykes has: • been elected to chair the Elder Law Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association (2007-2009) • taught for 14 consecutive years at the Elder Law Institute, Pennsylvania’s premier teaching forum for elder law attorneys and other professionals • twice been selected as a Five Star Professional in Pittsburgh Magazine, for Excellence in Long-Term Care and Trust Preparation (only 7% of available professionals are selected by peers for this honor) • served as an active member of the Litigation Committee of the Pennsylvania Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Andy has spent the last 26 years helping “the little guy” in his practice of law. Mr. Sykes has written extensively on elder law topics, always striving to explain complicated concepts in plain English. His elder law blog is one of the most widely read in Pennsylvania.
